Sasha is a senior director at Insight Public Affairs, focusing on policy advocacy, stakeholder and coalition management, and digital messaging and organizing on technology policy. With a reputation as one of the smartest and most savvy policy wonks in the technology field, she has earned the respect of decision-makers in Congress and the administration.

Previously, Sasha was the government affairs manager and policy counsel handling coalitions, outreach, and intellectual property policy for the technology and innovation team at the R Street Institute, a center-right think tank based in Washington, D.C. Her work has been featured in publications including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, The Irish Times, The Hill, The American Spectator, Washington Examiner, Roll Call, The Kansas City Star, and Techdirt. She has spoken at conferences such as South by Southwest, LibertyCon, RightsCon, and Consumer Electronics Showcase.

Before joining R Street, Sasha was counsel for the office of U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-TX), where she specialized in Judiciary Committee issues. In addition to her tasks for the committee, she worked on all technology policy concerns and drafted the Open, Public Electronic, and Necessary (“OPEN”) Government Data Act, which was signed into law by President Trump in January 2019.

Earlier in her career, Sasha served as a legal aid at Caterpillar Inc., assisting the company’s government affairs team’s work on the Coalition for 21st Century Patent Reform. Prior to that, she was a Google policy fellow and wrote on issues pertaining to music licensing.

Sasha is a member of the Federalist Society, the Copyright Society of the USA, Electronic Frontier Foundation, Women in Government Reform, Cultivate the Karass, and Internet Law and Policy Foundry. She is a founding member of the Congressional Tech Staff Association and served as an adviser to the Creative Commons 2018 Summit Committee.

Sasha earned her bachelor’s degree in English literature from George Washington University and a master’s degree in Victorian literature from the University of Glasgow. She also holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Glasgow and a Master of Laws in intellectual property from George Washington University.

In her spare time, Sasha mentors young women across the country on ways to achieve their goals in the technology policy sector in Washington, D.C.
